What is a Halloween fundraiser?

A Halloween fundraiser is a pick-a-date calendar fundraiser that pays for the classroom or church Halloween party: the costumes contest, the candy, the decorations, the fog machine. Instead of a bake sale, families pick an October date on a shared calendar, the date is the price, and every claim shows the supporter's name and their message for the kids. Run it in the in the month before the party; Halloween night is the deadline.

Launch on a school night. Get every room parent in. Nudge on day 5.

Build the calendar and go live on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, when the class group text is already busy. Every room parent shares the link that night. Expect the money in 72 hours, one team message on day 5, and the ends-in-24-hours email closes it the day before the party.

Ideas

Halloween fundraiser ideas that fill the calendar

  1. 01

Send Halloween night to one person first

Text the link to the principal, the pastor, or the room parent who always goes big and ask them to claim the 31st. A claimed 31st on day one pulls the rest of October.

  2. 02

    One classroom, one week

Give each classroom a week of dates to fill and share the same link with every room parent. The first classroom to fill its week picks the party playlist.

  3. 03

Pitch the high dates to the usual helpers

Days 25–31 are the expensive ones. Send those with a personal text to the two or three families who always ask how they can do more.

  4. 04

Costume-contest votes on the supporter wall

Every claim shows a name and a message. Ask families to name their favorite costume idea in the message field, and read the wall aloud at the party.

  5. 05

Print the QR code on the classroom door

Every campaign gets a QR code the moment it's built. Put it on the classroom door, in the church bulletin, and on the snack table — a scan lands on the calendar.

  6. 06

Give the youth group the 20s

Hand days 20–29 to the youth leaders to fill from their own families. Same calendar, their own stretch of dates.

  7. 07

Set the calendar to 2× for a whole-school party

A party for 300 kids needs more than $496. The 2× date-pricing setting makes the 13th $26 and a full October $992 from the same 31 dates.

  8. 08

Let the haunted house stay a haunted house

Keep the calendar as the only money mechanic and run the haunted hallway as the draw. Nobody collects cash at the door, and every gift lands with a receipt.

  9. 09

Share the calendar, not a flyer

The share menu sends the link by text, email, or WhatsApp in one tap. A link in the class group text outperforms a paper flyer in a backpack.

  10. 10

Post the filled calendar at the party

Print it and hang it by the door with every supporter's name. Next September, share last year's calendar with the new link and it fills itself.

Questions

Halloween Fundraiser FAQ

How much can a Halloween fundraiser raise?

All 31 October dates claimed totals $496 at standard pricing. Set the calendar to 2× and the same 31 dates raise up to $992. Team calendars multiply that by the number of participants.

What are good Halloween fundraiser ideas for schools?

A pick-a-date calendar is the one that needs no product and no volunteers at a table: families claim an October date and give that amount. Pair it with a costume contest or a haunted hallway as the draw, and keep the calendar as the only money mechanic.

What does a Halloween fundraiser cost to run?

Building and running a calendar is free. Givers pay a small service fee at checkout, shown before they pay, and organizers keep 100% of calendar donations. The fee is described in full in our Terms of Service.

Do we need to be a nonprofit?

No. PTOs, PTAs, churches, booster clubs and individuals all run calendars. You need a payout account in your name — Stripe or Square — and that's it.

When does the money arrive?

Donations settle into your own Stripe or Square account. With Stripe, the standard schedule pays out to your bank after 7 days; Square follows its own payout schedule. Either way, payouts run on a regular cycle and go to your bank automatically — you don't have to do anything.

Is October too late to start a Halloween fundraiser?

No. Calendars with a deadline fill fastest — the real campaign above raised most of its total in the first week. Even a two-week run before the 31st fills the back half of the month first.

Do givers need an account?

No. It's a web link: tap a date, enter a name, pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, or card.
