What is a fun run fundraiser?
A fun run fundraiser is a pick-a-date calendar fundraiser in which every runner gets their own calendar under the school's campaign. Instead of pledge sheets and per-lap math, a runner's family and friends pick a date on that runner's calendar, the date is the price, and every claim shows their name and a cheer. The money is collected before the first lap, and the day of the run is the deadline.
How a fun run fundraiser fills in 72 hours
Real numbers, real calendar. One competition team, one September, hour by hour. Every calendar fills the same way, yours included.
Create the calendar and connect payouts — 6 minutes
Account 5:28, campaign 5:30, Stripe 5:31, live 5:34. Goal set per participant × 12. Public before dinner.
The team joins — each gets a personal link and QR by email
Join link in the team group text. First member 5:55, four by 9 PM, thirteen within the week. This automatic email did the work: 217 of 219 gifts came through personal links. No invite list was ever uploaded.

First gift in two hours, 21 by midnight
Members texted family the same evening. $224 before bed. Round dates went first — the 10th, 20th, 25th and 30th were the most-claimed all month.
73% of the money in 72 hours
Day 2 $843, day 3 $1,006, day 4 $515. Peak hour 8 PM, second wave 9–11 AM; per day, weekdays out-gave weekend days about 1.6 to 1. $2,588 by the end of day 4.
Late joiners bring their own wave
Three more members joined on days 3, 4 and 6, each with a fresh family burst. 119 donors, $16.29 average gift, 1.65 dates per checkout, 72% left a message on the calendar.
Nobody sent the day-5 nudge — days 9 and 10 raised $67
The Email Team tab was never used, so the calendar went quiet at 64% of goal. One team message on day 5 — "we're at $2,700, the 20s are wide open" — is the single step this playbook adds.

Launch three weeks before the run. Every runner joined the first night. Nudge on day 5.
Build the team campaign and go live on a school night three weeks out. Runners join through the school's link and each gets a personal calendar and QR by email that night — the competition team above got 217 of 219 gifts through those personal links. Expect the money in 72 hours, one team message on day 5, and the ends-in-24-hours email closes it the day before the run.
Everything a fun run fundraiser needs
Built for the PTA that used to chase pledge sheets after the run: one campaign, a calendar per runner, every pledge collected before the whistle.

Fun run fundraiser ideas that fill the calendar
- 01
Launch three weeks before the run
Pledge sheets go home three weeks out anyway. A calendar that goes live the same week is filled before the run instead of chased after it.
- 02
Every runner joins the first night
Share the school's join link in every class group text. Each runner who joins gets their own calendar and QR code by email that night — the families with a link on night one give on night one.
- 03
Grandparents take the 31st
Ask every runner to text their calendar to a grandparent first and ask them to claim the last date. A claimed 31st on day one pulls the rest.
- 04
Cheers on the supporter wall
Every claim shows a name and a message. Ask family to write a cheer in the message field, and read the runner's wall at the finish line.
- 05
Print each runner's QR code on their bib
Every runner's calendar gets its own QR code. Put it on the bib — a scan on run day lands on that runner's calendar.
- 06
Set the calendar to 2× for the whole-school goal
A playground needs more than $496 a runner. The 2× date-pricing setting makes the 13th $26 and a full calendar $992 per runner.
- 07
Classroom leaderboard
The leaderboard shows every runner's total. Post the classroom totals in the hallway each morning — the race before the race.
- 08
Keep the run a run
With the calendar collecting the money beforehand, run day is just laps and cheering. Nobody counts laps against a pledge sheet, and every gift lands with a receipt.
- 09
Share it by text on a weeknight
The share menu sends each runner's link by text, email, or WhatsApp in one tap. A Tuesday-evening share starts faster than a weekend one.
- 10
Post the filled calendars at the finish line
Print the top calendars with every name on them. Next fall, share the campaign again and the same families come back.

How much can a fun run fundraiser raise?
All 31 dates claimed totals $496 per runner at standard pricing. One hundred runners on one campaign is $49,600 at full claim; real campaigns fill 60–85% of their dates. Set the calendar to 2× and each runner raises up to $992.
How does this replace pledge sheets?
Every runner gets their own calendar and link. Family and friends claim dates on it before the run, the money is collected at the moment they claim, and nobody counts laps against a pledge afterward.
What does a fun run fundraiser cost to run?
Building and running a campaign is free. Givers pay a small service fee at checkout, shown before they pay, and the PTA keeps 100% of calendar donations. The fee is described in full in our Terms of Service.
When should a fun run fundraiser start?
Whenever you are ready. This is 2026: click and text, they pick a date and give. Most groups run it in the month before the event so the money is in before it is booked.
Does every runner need an account?
No. Runners join through the school's link with a name and an email, and their calendar and QR code arrive by email. Givers need nothing at all.
When does the money arrive?
Donations settle into the PTA's own Stripe or Square account. With Stripe, the standard schedule pays out to your bank after 7 days; Square follows its own payout schedule. Either way, payouts run on a regular cycle and go to your bank automatically — you don't have to do anything.
Do givers need an account?
No. It's a web link: tap a date, enter a name, pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, or card.
